Your homework task this week is to write a recount about our trip.

Things to think about:
  • How you travelled there.
  • What you saw.
  • What you enjoyed.
  • The events of the day in sequence.
  • What learning took place.
  • How you felt.
Remember to add detail and write events chronologically. make your recount interesting as we will be reading them in class.

  1. I will walk to the train station when I get on the train and when I come off I might take the DLR when I get to Greenwich I will walk to the cutty sark. I am going to enjoy seeing the cutty sark because it was a very famous ship and it was a pirate ship I have never saw a real pirate boat. If I had to put the day in a sequence I will get it in order starting from how we travelled, where we stopped, when we got there and when we went back to school. I will learn when I go to the cutty sark How did it travel though the sea?, Did the boat crash into something?, I feel happy, Exited.

  2. I had lots of fun.
(Fact) After John Wills waved goodbye to the Cutty Sark.
Tea was very expensive in 18th century Britain, but tea smuggled from the Netherlands was widely availible. To stop smuggling and protect the legal trade, in 1784 the tax on tea was slashed from 119% to 12 1/2%, making it affordable to almost everyone.
Up to 1842, China exported its tea through Guandong and Macao, taking payment in silver. To recoup some of this silver, the British to wars (1839-1842 and 1856-1860)

Cutty Sark characters and what they do:

Hercules Linton Designer of Cutty Sark
William Scott-Moncrief Partner of Hurcules Linton
John Rennie Chief draughtsman and Scott & Linton builders of Cutty Sark

    Years of what happened

1797 The first Merino sheep are imported
1821 The first auction of Australian wool in London takes place at Garraways Coffe house

On 5th of July all the year3 went to Cutty Sark.We came in the classroom and

sat down on the carpet.Miss Henderson explained the rules and told how we

were going to travel. We put on our trip jackets and lined up.We walked to

Hainault station. We the took the Central Line and got off at Stratford and

from there we took DLR and got off at Cutty Sark.

After reaching there,we started to go to the famous ship.We

went inside and explored upstairs. There was a big hall and the teachers gave

us a book to write some notes. We went to the outer part of the ship where we

saw different kinds of cabins and rooms.Small cabins were ment for ordinary

people and the big cabins were ment for rich people. From there my group went

to a big hall where the people used to have meetings. We shifted to an another

hall. There was a information board and a game with a steering wheel.I went to

play the game and had a go.It was fun.We all felt hungry now so we went

downstairs to have lunch.Post lunch we went outside and scetched the Cutty

Sark ship which i enjoyed very much.

I felt excited because this was a new expierence for me.
I learnt that Hercules Linton was the designer of the ship so I learnt

something new.I enjoyed the whole trip. Now it was the time to go back to the

school.I said bye to Cutty Sark before leaving.

  5. On the 5Th of July we went to the Cutty Sark.
First we walked to Hainult train station,
When we arrivied at the Cutty Sark we looked around the ship top to bottom,
Then we came back down to where we started and had some lunch.
We were given books to write facts and to draw pictures in.
After lunch we searched for some facts about the Cutty Sark.
We came out of the Cutty Sark and had to draw a picture of the ship, once we had drawn the ship if was time to leave.
We walked through the foot tunnel to catch the train back to school.
When we arrived back to school it was home time.

I really enjoyed the trip to the Cutty Sark.

  6. On friday 5th July all of year went on a trip to the cutty sark.We travelled by train. When we got there we looked at the cutty sark top to bottom. The bottom was a little dark and had a creepy floor.

in the middle of the ship we got to see very exiting things.I enjoyed the top deck the most because there is lots of fun and exiting things.

i am wondoring what they did when it rained. We had abook to write some facts about the cutty sark,I found very intresting things one of them was that the toilets are called heds.

I was very exited and the cutty sark turned out to be bigger than I thought.

  7. We went on two trains to get to the Cutty Sark. First we traveled on the Central line and then we went on the DLR. We saw the Olympic stadium from the train. When we got to the Cutty Sark I saw a really big mast and thought Wow that's really really high. We went inside the ship and saw a toilet that had no flushing chain or a sink (yuk!). I looked in the telescope and it was as if I could see for miles and miles. I learnt that the Cutty Sark was used for transporting tea from China. I had a go of a game where you had to steer a ship to London and see how many days it would have taken you if you were steering a real ship. After we had looked around we had lunch underneath the ship. I saw some fish on special screens that made it look like an aquarium and then showed people walking. After lunch we went outside and sketched pictures of the boat. I felt really excited and happy. When it was time to go home we walked down lots of stairs to a very long tunnel that went under the River Thames. We walked through the tunnel, which was dark and damp, to get to the train station for the journey home. When we had to change trains at Stratford Mrs Cheek and my mum and some of Mrs Cheek's class nearly didn't get on the train because the driver closed the doors before they could get on but Mrs Cheek shouted very loudly and then they opened the doors. When we got back to Hainault we had a competion to see which class was the quietest while Mrs Cheek went to the station office. We walked back to school through the park and some of us had a race. By the time we got back to school I was very tired. I really enjoyed this trip and would like to go again.
